CS4ALL: Ms. Baranja
Welcome! I am Ms. Baranja and I am the CS4ALL teacher at P.S. 58Q The School of Heroes, where we guide students to become leaders! The Computer Science for All (CS4All) initiative offers a number of programs focused on helping schools to expand computer science (CS) exposure, offer access to robust CS experiences, and foster a sense of belonging in computer science for students. Any one is capable of learning computer science and gaining computational literacy! Computer science is the study of the capabilities and limitations of computers. Computational literacy is the ability to understand how CS can be applied in all walks of life. New York City public school students develop computational literacy through creative computing. CS enables students to show what they know and find their voice through the use of technology. Through coding and programming, students will have opportunities to build their problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills and find meaningful ways to use these skills to be future leaders that will make a difference in our world.
With the CS4ALL curriculum at P.S.58Q The School of Heroes, we will be working with our digital age learners to build their 21st century skills. CS4ALL will be intertwined with their general education curriculum as well as STEAM, which integrates science, technology, engineering, arts, and math to create a student-centered learning environment where students investigate and engineer solutions to problems and real-world phenomena. In CS4ALL, students will learn computer science concepts and practices by manipulating models and working in guided digital environments, use a variety of applications and programs to represent their ideas, thoughts, and interests, and innovate by building and sharing ideas, thoughts, and interests with others by contributing to or building digital projects. Students will also learn and practice good digital citizenship through the responsible use of technology and pledge to build a kinder, safer, and better digital world. I look forward to working with your students this school year! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
