Welcome! I'm Ms. Baranja, and I'm thrilled to be your student's Computer Science for All (CS4ALL) teacher, guiding them on their journey to becoming innovative leaders.  

 

🌟 Empowering Future Leaders with Computer Science🌟

The CS4ALL initiative is dedicated to providing robust computer science (CS) experiences for all students. We believe everyone is capable of learning computer science and gaining computational literacy skills—the ability to understand how CS can be applied in every facet of life.

  • What is Computer Science?

    • It is the study of the capabilities and limitations of computers.

  • How do students learn?

    • NYC public school students develop computational literacy through creative computing.

    • CS empowers students to find their voice and demonstrate their knowledge using technology.

  • Through coding and programming, students will significantly enhance their problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, preparing them to be future leaders who will make a meaningful difference in our world.

 

💻 CS4ALL: Integrating 21st-Century Skills💻

At P.S. 58Q, the CS4ALL curriculum is designed to build the 21st-century skills our digital age learners need. This program is intentionally intertwined with the general education curriculum and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) to create a student-centered learning environment.

 

In CS4ALL, students will:

  • Learn CS Concepts and Foundations

    • Acquire an understanding of computer science concepts and practices by manipulating models and working in guided digital environments.

  • Express Ideas

    • Utilize a variety of applications and programs to creatively represent their ideas, thoughts, and interests.

  • Innovate & Share

    • Build and share their projects, contributing to a collaborative digital community.

 

Furthermore, a critical component of our program is developing strong digital citizenship and digital literacy. Students will learn and practice the responsible use of technology and pledge to build a kinder, safer, and better digital world.
