In September 2015, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Computer Science For All (CS4All), a 10-year initiative to scale computer science education to 100% of the city’s public schools.
By 2025, all New York City public school students will receive at least one meaningful, high-quality CS learning experience at each school level: elementary, middle, and high school.
We now have CS Standards that will be used to drive instruction.
CS4ALL offers a new way of thinking and of learning, empowers students with practical knowledge and skills, while nurturing confidence and intrinsic motivation.
When you walk into a Computer Science classroom at PS. 58 you will see the students:
Working together to solve a problem.
Participating in unplugged activities (activities that do not include technology) in order to understand the basic principles of CS.
Creating code and adapting existing codes to their own projects.
Building physical prototypes as part of the design process.
